Sheep Trail 31st July to 30th October 2010 Date Added: Thursday 21st October 2010
In the trail's first month, well over 300 lambs decorated by school children and visitors to Harlow libraries and other points in the Town Centre were returned to the Lamb Pen in the Foyer outside ASDA in The Water Gardens. They are being added to the trail on a daily basis. Thousands more are in circulation or can be picked up in the Town Centre. There are prizes of family tickets to see this year's Panto in Harlow Playhouse to the best decorated and best named lambs in each year group from Reception to Year 6.
The trail celebrates an exhibition in the Gibberd Gallery of Henry Moore's Sheep etchings, with a selection of related sculptures, drawings and found objects, which runs from 31 July and runs until 30 October, and the opening of Gatehouse Arts, the town's newest gallery and studio.
Henry Moore made these studies from sheep in the field outside his home and studio at Perry Green, 10 miles from the town. The exhibition is curated by the Suzanne Eustace, from The Henry Moore Foundation, which is based at and welcomes visitors to his former home.
